一部週刊誌で元グラドル女性（39）との不倫を報じられた衆院議員で国民民主党の玉木雄一郎代表（55）が11日、国会内で会見。報道を「おおむね事実」認め、謝罪した。
玉木議員はこの日午前8時半過ぎ、個人のX（旧ツイッター）アカウントを更新。報道関係者に向け、「今朝の週刊誌報道に関して記者会見を行います。急なご案内で大変恐縮ですが、宜しくお願い申し上げます」とつづり、約1時間後の9時半から会見を開くと発表した。投稿には参加申し込みフォームへのリンクも添えられていた。
突然のお知らせにフォロワーは「プライベートがどうだろうと関係ない」「減税には関係ないし 国民には関係ない」「ここで潰されないで頑張って」「本業で精一杯頑張ってくれればそれでいい」「対応が早い！」「家庭内のお話なので奥様に怒られて下さい でも国民はあなたの家庭ではなく、訴えている政策を支持して投票しています」などのコメントが相次いだ。
また、会見では代表の進退について「仲間に諮る」としたこともあり、「これで代表辞任とかした日には総スカンくらいますよ。政策実現の放棄こそ有権者への最大の裏切り」「こんなやり方で国民のための政策を潰すやり口に負けないで」などのエールもあった。
さらにXでは「玉木潰し」がトレンド入りし、「狙ったかのように首班指名の時に持ってきましたね」「こんなにあからさまな玉木潰しある？w 政治って本当腐ってるな」「財務省の玉木潰しって疑われても仕方ない」などの批判も相次いだ。
