「在留資格のないクルド人は自国に帰るべき」 川口市長が語る クルド人問題を巡って「殺害予告も受けた」
クルド人が増え続ける埼玉県川口市。彼らによる騒動や暴行など、トラブルの数々も報道される。実際、そこに住んでみると不安を募らせる住民も少なくないように思われた。
100人規模の暴動、無免許運転でのひき逃げ、女子中学生への性的暴行……。
埼玉県川口市ではクルド人による事件やトラブルが続いている。そこで、現地で暮らし市民に近い感覚でレポートしてほしい、というミッションを編集部から与えられた。
殺害予告された市長
クルド人問題では、不確実でネガティブな発信をすると、差別ではないか、と批判を浴びることが多い。しかし市民の身からすれば、治安への不安や不満はあるだろう。その矛先は川口市長にも向けられる。
なかには過激な手段を選ぶ者もいた。
「殺人が裁かれないなら、明日お前を殺してやる。お前の命は、明日までだ」
24年6月11日、X（旧Twitter）で、奥ノ木信夫市長は殺害を予告された。埼玉県警は市長の警護を強化。脅迫者の特定を急いだ。
X上で脅迫者が“裁かれない”と指摘しているのは、同1月に市内のコンビニ駐車場の車の中で20歳解体業のクルド人の男が、女子中学生に性的暴行をした事件。5月に執行猶予付きの判決を受けて釈放されていた。
断られることを覚悟の上で取材を申し込むと、市長は快く応じてくれた。
「クルド人をウェルカムしているわけではない」
市民をどう守るべきか、国に何を求めているのか、自治体の長としての苦悩……などを市長は率直に語った。
「私はクルド人をウェルカムしているわけではありません。誤った解釈がSNSで拡散され、殺すと脅されて、大変迷惑しています」
きっぱりと言った。
「市民の不安を少しでも和らげるため、埼玉県警には市内の警備の強化を求めています。それと同時に、市では公用車として108台の青パト（青色回転灯を点灯させて警備する自主防犯パトロールカー）を常備しています。この台数は、埼玉県全域の総数の約15％です」

誤解を招いた国の制度への要望については、次のように念を押した。
「在留資格のないクルド人は自国に帰るべきです。それなのに、多くは仮放免扱いで川口市にいます。
