石破茂首相は8日の参院代表質問で、選択的夫婦別姓について「家族の在り方の根幹に関わる問題」と表現し、早期導入に慎重な考えをにじませた。首相就任前、石破氏は「実現は早いに越したことはない」と訴えていた。足元の自民党内で賛否が割れている現状を踏まえ、発言を後退させた格好だ。同性婚の法制化でも、トーンダウンが目立つ。
石破氏は代表質問で選択的夫婦別姓への賛否を明らかにしなかった。「賛成か、反対か」と迫った立憲民主党の田名部匡代氏に対し「夫婦の氏に関する具体的な制度の在り方については、国民の間にさまざまな意見がある」と指摘するにとどめた。「国民各層の意見や国会における議論の動向を踏まえ、必要な検討を行いたい」と説明するだけで、方向性を示さなかった。
同性婚の実現を急がない意向も示唆した。「国民一人一人の家族観とも密接に関わる。国民の意見や国会の議論、訴訟の状況を注視する必要がある」とした。
石破氏は首相に選出される前、選択的夫婦別姓導入への積極発言を繰り返していた。
