2024年夏、久しぶりに電話で話したその人物は、会話の最後に思いもよらぬ事実を告げた。私は衝撃のあまり、絶句した。Bは私と同い年の50代。早すぎる死だった。Bは日本中を震撼させたある事件の犯人のひとりだった。
『足立区綾瀬の女子高生コンクリート詰め殺人事件』
1989年３月、東京都江東区若洲の空き地で、コンクリート詰めにされた女性の遺体が発見された。被害者は埼玉県三郷市に住む17歳の女子高校生だった。
事件に関わったのは主犯格A（18）、準主犯格B（17）、自宅が監禁場所となったC（16）、監視役のＤ（17）など、当時16歳から18歳の少年７人。
通りがかりの見ず知らずの女子高生をAが強姦目的で連れ去り、41日間にわたって足立区綾瀬のCの自宅の一室に監禁した。連日に及ぶ強姦、顔面や体を殴りつける、ライターで皮膚をあぶる、食事を与えない。非道の限りを尽くしたあげく、A・B・C・Dの４人は女子高生を殺害。遺体をドラム缶に入れて捨てたのだった。
