日本政府観光局（JNTO）によると、2024年10月の訪日外国人旅行者数（推計値）は2019年比32.7％増の331万2000人となり、単月での過去最高を更新した。1～10月の累計では2019年比12.2％増の約3019万2600人で、1964年の統計開始から過去最速で年間累計3000万人を突破。これまでの年間客数の過去最高である2019年の約3188万人まで、約170万人に迫っており、来月発表される1～11月までの累計で記録を更新する見通しだ。
地域別では、韓国が73万2100人（2019年比271.1％増）、次いで中国が58万2800人（同20.2％減）、台湾が47万8900人（同15.8％増）、米国が27万8500人（同81.6％増）、香港が19万8800人（同10.1％増）の順。
